FARIDABAD: A seven-year-old student of Shakti Vidya Niketan, a private school for pre-primary kids, was grievously injured after being hit by a bus of another school on Wednesday morning.According to the police, the boy's mother had brought Aarman Qureshi to his school in the morning and left for home. The boy however sneaked out of his class and wandered on to the road opposite Sainik Colony nearby where he was hit by the bus belonging to DAV Public School.
Rakesh Chaubey, the driver of the bus, and the bus conductor reportedly fled the scene of the accident.
Aarman was admitted to Fortis Escorts Hospital where he was last reported to be in a critical condition. Dr Prabal Roy, the surgeon treating him, said the child had broken his pelvic girdles and had lost much blood. The principal of DAV school, Neelam Bhalla, told Times City that the driver and the conductor had reported to her after the accident and had told her about the accident. She said the school's drivers were always very careful and claimed that Chaubey was not at fault in this case. She claimed the accident took place because the child suddenly came running in front of the bus. Aarman's grandfather Haji Kamruddin, meanwhile, blamed the accident on lack of traffic control at the road where the bus hit the child. He said that two fatal accidents had occurred at the same spot earlier too.SSP Alok Mittal expressed his regret at the accident and assured that steps were underway to ensure that school buses should be driven safely on the city roads. He said the measures would include thorough training of the drivers and restricting bus movements in school premises.vikas.kalia@timesgroup.com
